Sergeant Mark Alley:

Mark Alley has worked in law enforcement for over 23 years, first as a reserve deputy sheriff and then full time for Sacramento County.  He took his BA from California State University, Sacramento in 1978.  He has been a sworn Deputy US Marshal, and worked with the FBI on a fugitive task force.  He has been trained by the FBI and FLETC.  His assignments for the Sheriff’s Department have included Patrol and Detectives, where he has worked in Theft, Warrants, Child Abuse, Robbery and Homicide.  He has always been involved in training and worked as both a Reserve Training Officer and Field Training Officer in Patrol.  He has almost 20 years’ experience in driver’s training, beginning in 1984, and has graduated from state and federal law enforcement driver training programs.  In 1998 he was part of the original full-time SSD driver’s training staff, where he was given the opportunity to rebuild the entire program from the ground up.  Promoted to sergeant in 2001, Mark worked in Communications and then became the department’s Range master.  He moved back to EVOC as supervisor in March of 2003. 
 

 

 

Deputy Dave Murray:

Dave MurrayDave Murray has been a Sheriff's Deputy for 21 years, having worked the old Main Jail, the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Facility, and long experience in the field as a patrol deputy, Field Training Officer, Sheriff's Detective, and 22 months as a Police Officer for the City of Citrus Heights.  Assigned to E.V.O.C. in May of 1999, Dave has been a primary lecturer for the peace officer in service class and handles the administrative details for training record updates and department reimbursement.

Deputy Kelly Turney:

Deputy Kelly Turney has been with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department for 20 years. She has worked at the Main Jail, Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, and Court Security. She has been a training officer since 1998. Kelly became a part-time driver training instructor in July of 2004. During the year that followed, she dedicated over 500 hours to instructing on her days off.  In November 2005, she became a full-time instructor. She has taken over the scheduling of classes and maintaining the web page.

 

Deputy Rich DePaola:

Rich DePaolaRichard DePaola has been with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department for 26 years.  He has completed assignments at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, the old Main Jail and Patrol Services.  He was a Field Training Officer as well as a Reserve Training Officer.  He graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor's Degree.  Rich was transferred to the S.R.D.T.F. in November 2001 and is currently working as a full time driver training instructor.


 

Lieutenant Morris (Mo) Bailey, Retired:

Moe BaileyMo Bailey is a 30 year veteran of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and has been an E.V.O.C. instructor since 1976.  During his career, Mo has been assigned to patrol metro detectives, narcotics, internal affairs, special investigations and tours in corrections as a Deputy, Sergeant, and Lieutenant.  Currently Mo has stewardship of the County Civilian Employees Driver Training Program and also instructs in-service deputies and recruits.  It should be mentioned that Mo was instrumental in developing the very first driver training program within the Sheriff's Department.

Corporal Bob Peterson:

Bob Peterson has been with the Sacramento Police Department for twenty-two years.  He worked eight years on patrol as a Field Training Officer.  He has worked the last fourteen years in S.W.A.T. and is still a reserve team member.  Bob worked part-time as a recruit training officer and physical training for six years with the department's extended police academy.  Bob became a driver training instructor in 2003 and is now a full time instructor assigned to S.R.D.T.F.

Engineer Ron Waterman:

Ron WatermanRon Waterman is a 22 year veteran of the City of Sacramento Fire Department and currently holds the rank of engineer.  Ron is a EMT-D and also a vehicle extrication specialist.  Ron became a DMV commercial class A and B driving instructor in 1986.  In 1998 he was recruited to work as an instructor for the Sacramento Regional Driver Training Facility.  Ron was instrumental in developing the off road-driving course for both commercial and class C vehicles which also includes the use of power winches and slope calculations.  Ron has been a full time instructor for S.R.D.T.F. since 1999.
