In-Service
Our In-Service Course is a two day course consisting of 20 hours of instruction. We offer both daytime and nighttime classes. While there is classroom instruction, approximately 80% of the time is spent behind the wheel. During the first day, students receive classroom instruction on driver awareness and an over-view of the course. Immediately following the classroom instruction, students begin driving. They receive behind the wheel time on the vehicle placement course for the first half of the day. The vehicle placement course consists of an accident avoidance exercise, a braking exercise, and several challenging turn-a-round and backing exercises. After lunch, students receive instruction in skid recovery and then enjoy the rest of the afternoon driving on our water flooded skid pan.
During the second day, students learn cornering techniques and then spend several hours behind the wheel on our cornering course. This is specifically designed to allow students to encounter many different types of corners. After lunch, students are certified in the application of P.I.T. by means of classroom instruction and behind the wheel practice. The day is concluded with an in-depth pursuit and liabilities lecture.
The In-Service Course is available to sworn personnel only. We welcome students from all law enforcement agencies.
