Civilian Course
Civilian Defensive Driver Course is offered to all Sacramento County and City civilian employees. The course consists of one full day at the Sacramento Regional Driver Training Facility, most of which is spent behind the wheel. After a very informative classroom presentation, students drive the same precision placement course that in-service officers drive, including accident avoidance and threshold braking. In the afternoon, students proceed to the skid pan where they are shown demonstrations of skid recovery and are then placed behind the wheel. Students spend the remainder of the afternoon on the skid pan. Students that satisfactorily complete the course will receive a certificate indicating their completion of a Defensive Driver Course.
